    • Sitting out after HBP
Hoerner is not in Friday's lineup in Cincinnati after being hit on the hand by a pitch during Thursday's win over the White Sox, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Hoerner was struck by a pitch in the fourth inning Thursday but finished the game. He underwent a precautionary X-ray afterward, which evidently came back clean. However, he could be dealing with some residual soreness. David Bote will handle second base Friday. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:22 pm

    • X-rays negative on Nico Hoerner’s hand after HBP
X-rays came back negative on Nico Hoerner’s hand after being hit by a pitch during Thursday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Hoerner remained in the contest and appears to have avoided serious injury after being plunked on the hand by a 96.5 mph fastball from Reds starter Hunter Greene during the early stages of the game. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to require a trip to the injured list at this point. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:44 pm

    • Racks up three hits in win
Estrada went 3-for-6 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Wednesday's 9-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Estrada missed three games with a jammed thumb to begin June, but he's been strong at the plate on both sides of that minor injury. This was his fourth multi-hit effort in his last six games. The second baseman is up to a .250/.282/.417 slash line with eight home runs, one stolen base, 32 RBI and 33 runs scored over 59 contests this season. The Giants' lineup has been in flux for much of the year due to numerous injuries, but Estrada's been a near-constant presence even amid his early struggles. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:09 pm

    • Returning to action Tuesday
Estrada (thumb) is starting at second base and batting second Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Estrada sat out the previous three games with a jammed thumb but is ready to take the field Tuesday in Arizona. The 28-year-old finished May on a modest four-game hit streak and went 7-for-17 with a double, an RBI and a run during that span. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:42 pm

Thairo Estrada (thumb) is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Estrada is at second base and batting second for Tuesday’s showdown at Chase Field following a three-game absence due to left thumb soreness after jamming it last Friday on a slide into second base. Rotoworld Tuesday, 3:30 pm

    • Nico Hoerner has two hits in loss to Reds
Nico Hoerner went 2-for-5 with a run scored in a loss to the Reds on Sunday.

Advice: Hoerner has been slowly increasing his batting average in recent weeks and is up to .262/.351/.366 on the season; however, he didn’t attempt a stolen base today and has just six on the season. After stealing 43 bases last year, it’s discouraging to see Hoerner not running as often. It could partially be a hamstring issue he’s been dealing with or a new philosophy under manager Craig Counsell, but since Hoerner doesn’t have much power, his fantasy value will take a big hit if he’s only a 25-stolen-base hitter who will hit .270-.280. If you need the steals, you should still keep Hoerner in your lineup, but if you’re OK on speed and somebody makes a compelling offer, he could be a player you’re OK parting with. • Not in Sunday's lineup
Estrada (thumb) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The 28-year-old jammed his thumb Friday against New York and will sit Sunday for the second consecutive contest. Brett Wisely will shift to second base in place of Estrada while Casey Schmitt starts at shortstop. Rotowire.com Sunday, 11:25 am

    • Ezequiel Tovar tallies three more hits in loss
Ezequiel Tovar went 3-for-4 with a double on Saturday in the Rockies’ loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Tovar notched his second consecutive three-hit performance to raise his batting average to .302 (71-for-235) with eight homers and four steals through 56 contests. The 22-year-old shortstop has been an unexpected batting average booster this season and wound up leading the National League with 16 extra-base hits during the month of May. That’ll do.
