    • Ranger Suárez earns win vs. Mets
Ranger Suárez fought for the win in what was his worst start in weeks. He lasted five innings, walked two, and struck out three in a win over the Mets Wednesday night. Both runs he allowed were unearned.

Advice: This felt more like the Ranger Suárez of old, nibbling around the zone and unable to put many away. He was able to work out of trouble effectively as the Mets had men on base in four out of five innings and could not start a rally. Suárez’s step forward this season should still be seen as legitimate, but keep an eye on his command as he fell behind 1-0 to 16 of the 33 hitters he faced. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • J.D. Martinez goes 2-for-4 with home run
J.D. Martinez stayed hot with his second homer and fourth extra-base hit in five games for the Mets on Wednesday in their loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Martinez has shrugged off a sluggish start to his season. He’s hitting .350 since last Saturday with his six hardest balls of the season coming in that span. The Mets’ offense is scuffling now, but Martinez should have plenty of run producing opportunities this season hitting behind Brandon Nimmo, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Lindor. • Joey Lucchesi falls apart in Philadelphia
Joey Lucchesi allowed five earned runs on five hits in 4 ⅓ innings in a loss Wednesday in Philadelphia. He also walked four and struck out just two.

Advice: Lucchesi was recalled for the spot-start in this one as the Mets transitioned to a six-man rotation. He was cruising until a disastrous fifth inning in which he walked three before the Phillies opened the flood gates. It’s unlikely Lucchesi gets another turn in the rotation after this start with Tylor Megill due back soon and Adrian Houser supposedly returning to a starting role. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

    • Picks up first win
Thompson (1-1) recorded Wednesday's win over Cincinnati, allowing one hit and striking out one over a scoreless eighth inning.

Advice: Thompson, who made an eighth consecutive scoreless appearance, has been the Diamondbacks' best reliever through the first month-and-a-half. The side-arming right-hander sports a 1.00 ERA with just two walks while striking out 13 over 18 innings. He leads the team with six holds. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago
    • Delivers clutch hit
Gurriel went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Cincinnati.

Advice: Gurriel's two-out, bloop double in the eighth inning plated the winning run. The outfielder has been fighting it at the plate and entered the contest batting .121 (8-for-66) with two RBI over the previous 16 games. His average has dropped .231 due to the slump, but Gurriel remains an important middle-of-the-order bat for Arizona and is second on the club with 25 RBI over 40 games. Rotowire.com Today, 5:55 pm
    • Gets little help in loss
Corbin (1-4) took the loss Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings as the Nationals were downed 2-0 by the White Sox. He failed to strike out a batter.

Advice: The veteran southpaw wasn't fooling anyone as he managed only five swinging strikes on 82 pitches, but Corbin was able to minimize the damage against him, coming one out short of his second quality start of the season. He'll take a 5.59 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 29:18 K:BB through 48.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Twins. Rotowire.com Today, 5:48 pm

    • Snaps homer drought
Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Reds.

Advice: Walker led off the second inning with his eighth homer of the season and first in 13 games. He entered the contest on a 1-for-16 run and is batting .217 for the month. The recent slump dropped his average to .264, but Walker still leads the team with 28 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 5:47 pm

    • Eyeing Sunday return
Musgrove (elbow) could return from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game in Atlanta, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Dylan Cease is available to pitch Sunday on his normal four days' rest, but the Padres appear to be leaving the door open for Musgrove to return Sunday if he comes out of his bullpen session Wednesday no worse for the wear. Randy Vasquez has stepped in to fill the vacancy in the rotation since Musgrove was placed on the IL on May 5 with elbow inflammation. Rotowire.com Today, 5:35 pm

    • Cleared to start Sunday
Lopez (back) is slated to start Sunday's game against the Padres in Atlanta, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: The right-hander dealt with back tightness in his most recent start Monday against the Cubs and was lifted after five scoreless innings, but he's apparently feeling better two days later. Assuming he's able to make it out of his between-starts bullpen session without incident, Lopez shouldn't face any major workload restrictions when he toes the rubber Sunday. After spending most of the last two seasons as a reliever, Lopez has exceeded expectations with his move to a starting role in his first year in Atlanta, going 2-1 with a 1.34 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 40:16 K:BB in 40.1 innings through his first seven outings.
