    • William Conteras goes 2-for-4, hits two-run homer
William Contreras went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk as the Brewers bested the Red Sox 7-2 on Friday.

Advice: Contreras has been the NL’s third-best player to date — and top non-Dodger — while batting .337/.412/.538. If this keeps up, he ought to be treated better in the MVP balloting this time around. There was an argument for him as the NL’s fifth-best player last year, but he wound up 11th in the MVP balloting then. Rotoworld Friday, 10:47 pm

    • Willson Contreras optimistic on earlier return
Willson Contreras (fractured forearm) has already had his cast removed.

Advice: The exact date is uncertain, but Contreras has been cast-less since at least last Friday, May 17. It may have been as early as May 11. “I’m really happy with how the process is going and how well I’m recovering,” Contreras said late last week. “The way I feel, I could say, it’s not going to be (until) the All-Star break. It could be earlier than that. I’m not going to say something that is going to get above the doctors’ opinion, but if you’re asking me how I’m feeling, I’m feeling great.” The Cardinals have yet to comment on Contreras potentially beating his All-Star week return projection, but it is now definitely within the realm of possibility. • Belts big three-run blast
Contreras went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Saturday in a 4-2 victory versus Houston.

Advice: Contreras provided the biggest hit of the game with a three-run, fourth-inning homer that broke a 1-1 tie and sent Justin Verlander to the showers. The long ball was the backstop's second in his past three games and extended his current on-base streak to 25 contests. During that stretch, Contreras is batting .347 with three homers, 17 RBI, 22 runs, two stolen bases and a 14:16 BB:K. Rotowire.com May 18, 10:46 pm
