    • Homers and doubles in win
Tovar went 2-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Padres.

Advice: Tovar doubled to lead off a five-run sixth for the Rockies and then homered to kick off the seventh. He continued his recent hot streak at the plate and now has at least a hit in eight straight games, slashing .343/.361/.686 with two homers, five RBI and five runs scored over that span. The 31.1 strikeout rate is a bit alarming, but Tovar continues to hit towards the top of the lineup and is still making solid contact with a .275 average over 180 plate appearances thus far. • Ezequiel Tovar homers, doubles against Padres
Ezequiel Tovar collected his fifth homer and 11th double Tuesday in the Rockies’ 6-3 takedown of the Padres.

Advice: Tovar swings at everything and might have the worst approach of anyone in the majors, but he’s talented enough to be something close to an average hitter anyway. Through 180 plate appearances this year, he’s sporting a .275/.315/.443 line in spite of a 56/8 K/BB ratio. The modest success, and the fact that it’s rewarded by a Rockies team willing to hit him at the top of the lineup, makes it less likely that he’ll ever truly reach his potential. • Nico Hoerner scratched with hamstring tightness
Nico Hoerner was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup due to left hamstring tightness.

Advice: It sounds like a precautionary measure since Hoerner was in Chicago’s original lineup, but it’s a situation fantasy managers should keep a close eye on moving forward. The 27-year-old middle infielder should be considered day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:24 pm

    • Scratched from lineup
Hoerner was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against Atlanta due to left hamstring tightness, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Hoerner was originally slated to bat leadoff for Chicago in Game 2 of its series in Atlanta, but he will now be forced to take a seat. More information on his injury will likely be provided following the contest, but in the meantime, Miles Mastrobuoni will take over at shortstop and bat eighth against Atlanta. • Homers early in win
Tovar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

Advice: The Rockies got to Jose Urena early in the first inning, and Tovar's blast was ultimately all they needed in the win. The shortstop has hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-26 (.308) with four extra-base hits in that span. For the season, he's at a .266/.308/.411 with four homers, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored, three stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple over 39 contests. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:55 pm
    • Thairo Estrada out Sunday against Reds
Thairo Estrada is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: It’s a day of maintenance for Estrada, as it’s his first day off since April 26. The 28-year-old infielder will get a day off with Brett Wisely getting the start in his absence. Rotoworld Sunday, 10:50 am

    • Sitting for series finale
Estrada is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Reds, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Estrada will sit for the first time since April 26, and Brett Wisely will start at second base Sunday against Reds right-hander Frankie Montas. Estrada is slashing .295/.340/.477 with two home runs and eight RBI in May. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:45 am

    • Goes deep in loss
Hoerner went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run, an additional run scored and two total RBI in Saturday's 10-9 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Hoerner took rookie Paul Skenes deep in the fourth inning for just his second long ball of the season. He drove in another run an inning later when he walked with the bases loaded. The low power output isn't too surprising, as Hoerner had only nine home runs last year and just 10 in 2022. The shortstop has still been productive in May with a .300 batting average and .941 OPS for the month along with both homers and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:35 am

    • Nico Hoerner clubs solo homer in loss to Pirates
Nico Hoerner clubbed his second home run of the season on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Cubs past the Pirates in a wild one at PNC Park.

Advice: Hoerner tagged Pirates’ phenom Paul Skenes for his 380-foot (99.5 mph EV) wall-scraping solo shot to get the Cubs on the board in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old infielder also drew the first of the Cubs’ six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. That’s right, six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. He finished the day 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored and is now hitting .272/.351/.397 with two homers, 12 RBI and four stolen bases. Rotoworld Saturday, 6:44 pm
