    • Swipes third bag
Winker went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Monday's win over the Marlins.

Advice: The 30-year-old had a busy day despite his lack of success with the bat, drawing a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning, then reaching base on a fielder's choice and stealing a bag in the seventh. Winker's reached base safely in 17 of the last 19 games, slashing .278/.369/.472 over that stretch with all three of his homers and all three of his stolen bases on the season along with 13 runs and 13 RBI. With Lane Thomas (knee) and Joey Gallo (shoulder) sidelined, Winker's become the everyday starter in left field, while Eddie Rosario and Alex Call platoon in right. • Corbin Carroll settles for lone single in loss
Corbin Carroll contributed a single in four at-bats as the Diamondbacks’ No. 8 hitter on Monday.

Advice: Carroll had two hard-hit balls tonight, including a 408-foot flyout that Statcast said would have been a homer in 17 of 30 ballparks. Power has been the issue for the 23-year-old this season, so this was a pretty good night, even if the box score looks perfectly generic. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:41 pm

    • Another quality start
Ryan didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk across six innings against the White Sox. He struck out three.

Advice: Although Ryan tallied his lowest strikeout total of the campaign, he cashed in on his fourth quality start of his last five appearances. After yielding a pair of home runs to the White Sox in his last start, Ryan limited the team to just one extra-base hit on the day. He owns a 1.3 BB/9 through 34.2 innings in 2024, another improvement after posting a 2.9 BB/9 in 2022 and a 1.9 BB/9 in 2023. Ryan is tentatively scheduled for a start against the Sox of Boston on Sunday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:35 pm

    • Joe Ryan allows two runs Monday in no-decision
Joe Ryan gave up two runs over six innings on Monday in a no-decision against the White Sox.

Advice: Ryan didn’t exactly capitalize on his second straight extremely favorable matchup against Chicago’s struggling lineup, finishing with three strikeouts and only issuing one walk. He finished with only nine swinging strikes and a disastrous 21 percent CSW. The 27-year-old righty has been on a roll, allowing three earned runs or fewer in six consecutive starts to open the 2024 campaign. He’ll carry a strong 3.38 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 41/5 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings (six starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the Red Sox at Target Field. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:02 pm

    • Hits go-ahead home run
Morel went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 3-1 win over the Mets.

Advice: Morel was hitless until the ninth inning, when he delivered a two-out home run with a runner on against New York closer Edwin Diaz to break open a 1-1 tie. The key blast was Morel's fourth of the season and first since April 9. He's not off to as fast of a start as he had last year, but the 24-year-old can heat up in a hurry, and perhaps this effort will provide the spark. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:25 pm

    • Shuts down Yanks for fourth win
Rodriguez (4-1) picked up the win Monday, allowing five hits and three walks over 5.2 scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Yankees. He struck out three.

Advice: While the 24-year-old right-hander recorded his lowest strikeout total of the season so far, Rodriguez kept New York from pushing across a run despite having runners in scoring position in three of the six innings in which he worked. He tossed 54 of 101 pitches for strikes before exiting, coming up just short of his fourth quality start of the year, and he gave up two runs or fewer for the fifth time in six trips to the mound. Rodriguez will take a 3.71 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB through 34 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in Cincinnati. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:09 pm
    • Christopher Morel hits go-ahead homer to sink Mets
Christopher Morel slugged a go-ahead two-run homer on Monday, powering the Cubs to a 3-1 victory over the Mets.

Advice: Morel stunned the New York faithful at Citi Field with a tie-breaking ninth-inning blast to left-center field off Mets stopper Edwin Díaz. It was his fourth big fly of the season and snapped a 16-game homerless drought dating back to April 9. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:29 pm

    • Grayson Rodriguez shuts out Yankees in win
Grayson Rodriguez went 5 2/3 innings and allowed five hits and no runs in a 1-0 victory against the Yankees.

Advice: After a putrid outing where he allowed seven earned runs, Rodriguez put together a scoreless performance and threw more than 100 pitches for the first time in a game this season. This was the 24-year-old’s third win of the season and brought his 4.45 ERA down to a cool 3.71 ERA. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:07 pm
    • Craig Kimbrel day-to-day with back tightness
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters Monday that Craig Kimbrel is day-to-day with back tightness.

Advice: Kimbrel left Sunday’s appearance against the Athletics with tightness in his back, and he’s considered day-to-day at this point. The 35-year-old may not appear for a day or two, but for now, it doesn’t appear this is a long-term injury. Yennier Cano will likely get the save chances for the Orioles while Kimbrel is away.
