De La Cruz went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, two steals, a run scored and was caught stealing in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.

His fourth-inning single snapped an 0-for-17 slide, and he later delivered a run as part of the Reds' three-run seventh inning to tie the game at 4-4. His aggressiveness on the bases was also on display, swiping his 22nd and 23rd bags; however, that aggression may have cost Cincinnati. After leading off the sixth with a walk and steal, De La Cruz was caught trying to take third base and was not in scoring position when Jake Fraley singled later in the frame. That aggressiveness is something manger David Bell tolerates from De La Cruz, as he told Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. Pablo López allowed just a run while striking out 10 over 6 1/3 innings in a victory over the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: López held the M’s to four hits, didn’t walk anyone, and threw 61-of-100 pitches for strikes. The only run came on an RBI single by Luke Raley in the second, and the only reason that run was able to score was Mitch Haniger reached on a bloop-double where two Minnesota defenders ran into each other. Outside of that the right-hander continued to impress, and he lowered his ERA to 3.89 — a number that is not indicative of how well he’s pitched this year. Advice: After reaching base on a fielder's choice in the fifth inning, De La Cruz promptly stole second and third base, but the Reds couldn't bring him home. The 22-year-old phenom is up to 21 steals on the season, tops in the majors by a healthy margin -- second place is a three-way tie at 14 between Ronald Acuna, Brice Turang and Jose Caballero. De La Cruz has gone 0-for-15 over the last four games, but he still sports a .254/.356/.516 slash line on the season with eight homers, 19 RBI and 27 runs in 36 contests. Sale (5-1) earned the win over the Red Sox on Wednesday, hurling six shutout innings while allowing six hits and one walk. He struck out 10.

Advice: Sale allowed at least one hit in each of his first five innings of work but was consistently able to work his way through it without sustaining any damage. He logged just one 1-2-3 inning, which came in the sixth, while fanning a season-high 10 batters on the night. The veteran lefty has now logged quality starts in three of his last four outings and hasn't produced fewer than six strikeouts in any of his seven starts this season. Chris Sale was utterly dominant with six shutout innings and 10 strikeouts and picked up the win in the 5-0 victory over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Sale lowered his ERA on the season to 2.95 with the excellent outing. He certainly showed the Red Sox what they’re missing after trading him last offseason. The win was Sale’s fifth in seven starts this season. His 52 strikeouts are in the top 10 among qualified starting pitchers. Sale is set to take on the Chicago Cubs at home next week.
